We paid in full in advance for two rooms at Amelie Suites over New Year, for two nights. We booked at the last minute, only four days before New Year's Eve. Then a serious family accident meant we had to stay in Athens, so we cancelled two days later, still two full days before New Year's Eve. We never received a booking confirmation either. This wasn't a reservation made months ahead, and the hotel wasn't full, so it doesn't seem our cancellation caused any real loss. Even so, they refused any refund, credit, date change, or partial refund, not even for one room or one night. When I called, the manager hung up on me. There was no flexibility or empathy, and nobody tried to find a reasonable compromise. I understand cancellation policies, but hospitality also takes judgment and basic decency, especially when there's a genuine emergency and notice is given promptly while the property isn't at capacity. This felt more like highway robbery than policy enforcement. Anyone booking should know that even with notice and exceptional circumstances, an unexpected change of plans may get no understanding or support here. Very disappointing, and not how a professional hospitality business should operate.

Amalie extraordinary suite is beautifully finished, with lovely design and high standards throughout. We enjoyed the comfort of the room and the hosts' very warm welcome. Thank you, and I hope to visit again. n.

Being right in the middle of the old town made the location perfect, and there was no street noise at all. Our room was quite small but very clean and well equipped. Its window looked onto a tiny inner courtyard, which could feel a little claustrophobic.

They eventually moved us to a bigger room with proper sun shutters and added duvet layers to make the mattress softer. After that, we could finally sleep properly. The second room had the space and comfort we'd expected for the price. The first night was rough because the room had no curtain and let in a lot of sunlight, and the mattress felt too firm. Otherwise it was a nice, newly renovated apartment room, and the service was friendly. The staff's response felt indifferent, though. At first they tried to charge extra for moving us, and didn't like that we asked for another duvet. They did sort it out in the end, but we didn't feel treated with much hospitality, almost as if we were at fault. It's newer accommodation attached to an existing hotel and seems to be a work in progress. For something somewhat expensive, they should have been better prepared.

I loved staying here! The room was adorable, everything including the bathroom was really clean, and the location was perfect. Book the rooftop room if you can, the view of the castle is amazing.
