Amphitryon Hotel

For what's offered, the price is too high. The hotel feels old and needs updating. Our bed mattress was bad, the hot water had no pressure, and there was no WiFi signal.

I travelled with a group, and we ran into several problems: no hot water for showers, airccon in one room, another room not cleaned, and a room card that kept failing. We were told hotel WiFi only worked in the lobby. I went there to get some work done, then at 11pm Panagioye told me to leave because hotel guests use the lounge and I should sit on a lounge like that. In the half hour I was there, I saw only two people pass through, and there were three or four seating areas. He contradicted what we'd been told and was rude. In my opinion, the request felt discriminatory, since I couldn't see another reason for it. It's 2025. They should put some of the money guests pay toward WiFi, which travellers who work need, and deal with the other hotel issues too. If they don't, they shouldn't approach guests as though we're the problem. Half the areas, including the lobby, have no air-conditioning. I would rather have worked in the comfort of my room than sit in a sauna. Panagioye could use customer service training. His aggressive approach might be met differently one day. He was also pointing fingers at guests using guest WiFi while sitting there watching videos himself at high volume, with the sound carrying to the next floor. This isn't a place that seems proud of its service, maintenance, or facilities, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

The views are amazing, but that's the only quality I can see in this very tired hotel. The rooms and furniture are visibly worn and dated, and the bathrooms are basic. Our room had a bath but only a handheld shower. On check-in night, there was no hot water, and nobody told us; we had to discover it ourselves. On day two the water was warm, not hot. It must have been a great hotel 20 years ago, when they last put money into it. Apparently the WiFi age hasn't reached here: we were offered a conference room if we wanted to connect. And despite the website, there is no parking. You have to take your chances on the street. We were there on a weekend and ended up walking quite a way. Terrible value for money. A reminder that star ratings and hotel.com ratings can't always be trusted. Avoid!

The staff were nice and the location was good, but the photos don't reflect the room's actual condition or what it offers. It's very dated and run down. They advertise parking, yet there's no car parking, and it's very expensive too. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.
