Old Town Pension

The room felt dated, with stains on the curtains, and it hadn’t been cleaned very well. Still, it was very affordable. The owner was kind, picked me up at the port, and showed me around the old town on the walk to the hotel.

After the pickup, we decided to cancel the reservation and ask for our money back. The way he treated us, and my girlfriend in particular, was so bad that we didn't want to stay. At the port, the hotel guy was shouting that he hadn't had his coffee and was terribly irritable. He started walking to the hotel without checking if we were behind him. We were struggling with our luggage and had to stop twice to shout his name so he'd come back and wait. After we'd cancelled, Savvas stayed at a cafe with his friends to drink his coffee, seeming to enjoy watching us struggle to find somewhere at the last minute. Never again. Nobody deserves to be treated that way.

The studio was clean and comfortable, with kitchen appliances, and everything worked except the TV. We stayed three nights. The owner picked us up at the port and treated us to iced coffee and snacks while we waited for another guest, who arrived 30 minutes later on a different ferry. There’s a supermarket nearby, and the old town of Naxos is close too.

The location was great and the host was very friendly. The apartment is basic, but fine for what you pay. We had no hot water at night, and the WiFi wasn’t working. One morning the water was off altogether, and the bathroom door was broken, so I got stuck inside.
