Soulis Hotel

The pool and its surroundings were the only things we liked, though the water was too warm. We were on a group tour and stayed three nights at Soulis Hotel. Check-in was complicated and we had to change rooms. Both were spacious but very dated, and both smelled of sewer gas from the kitchen sink. The air conditioning was weak and noisy. The shower was tiny and full of mold. Electrical outlets and switches were loose in the walls, with wires exposed. Breakfast was very minimal, and the coffee was the worst watery coffee I’ve ever had. There’s almost no parking, and the pool and breakfast area are right beside a busy main road. I’d stay away.

I brought my son and grandson expecting a pool snack bar and the usual room basics like a kettle and toaster. There was no snack bar, the pool was closed, and the electricity kept cutting out. We had no hot water, and every day I was told it had been fixed, but it hadn’t. The manager was useless, making fake promises and never apologizing for the hot water. He just kept saying it wasn’t his fault. The place felt tacky and like it was falling apart. Awful stay, more like a hostel.

The WiFi was slow, which was the one downside. Everything else made us want to return in a heartbeat. Costas and Esmeralda, Liza and Irma were all amazing, always smiling and ready to help. The customer service was excellent, and the food was fairly priced. They really tried to accommodate what we wanted. Costas helped us get to the airport and suggested ways to reach Oía, Fira, Red beach, and other places, including the most economical options. The bus stop is only a few minutes away on foot, and it was definitely worth it.

The apartment interiors are plain, but well looked after. The pool is big enough and maintained nicely, and the snacks are good, made right away with fresh ingredients. Everyone working there seems to want the best for guests, and the service is great for the price. A few strings of lights outside might make the place feel more romantic or cozy. The WiFi quality could be better too, though who really needs it on holiday? :-)
