Dias Hotel

The sea was very windy today and the beach was empty, but the hotel's pool, Dias, was a cozy, quiet shelter from the wind. Access to the pool means ordering a portion of alcohol at the local bar.

The staff were kind and helpful, and gave me all the information I needed about the area. I was speechless at the breakfast selection, everything was fresh and tasty. My room was clean and lovely, with a great view of Olympus mountain. I spent a couple of days at Hotel Dias last weekend and was really satisfied with the hospitality. I'd recommend it and would definitely vacation at Hotel Dias again.

The facilities could be good, but this was a very bad stay and I'd never recommend it. Staff seemed uninterested in decent service. We ordered Margaritas at the bar and got something with white rum, lots of ice and red sweetener. They should learn to mix cocktails before serving well-known ones. I didn't see a single staff smile during the stay, and the so-called "manager" spoke poor English and seemed clueless about customer service. Privacy was another problem. They didn't seem to care when we were in the room, and apparently weren't familiar with the concept. The rooms were above average and kept clean, with sheets and towels changed every day. The pool was good, cleaned daily, and open from 09:00 till 20:00. The kitchen wasn't being used for some reason, and breakfast was awful: bad bread with cheap butter and jam, or very low-quality ham and yellow cheese. For a Greek hotel, I expected at least Feta cheese, but was disappointed. There were cut tomatoes and cucumber, but that was the only fresh food, not a single fruit. Greece has great apricots, peaches and cherries, but even an apple or banana would have been appreciated. The hard-boiled eggs were served cold. There were no omelettes, scrambled or fried eggs, and nothing hot at all. With a kitchen, they could easily make pancakes, bacon, sausages, fried tomatoes, beans or French toast, but there was none of that.

The showers leaked badly, the walls were paper thin, and the beach was far enough away that getting back to the room after forgetting something was a problem. The food was cold and didn't taste nice, like a child had made it. The owner's wife was horrible to us, mean and rude. I hope this place closes.
