Aphrodite Hotel

Those mornings and sunsets from the Aphrodite balcony made my Karpathos trip. The view is almost impossible to describe, you have to experience it yourself 😍. The hosts were lovely, too. Their Parthenon taverna is nearby on the main square, where you can have morning coffee with locals and try delicious, authentic Olympian dishes. 10/10.

Getting to the room is part of the experience: you park at the edge of the village, walk through little breezeways for a few minutes, and meet the owner at his cafe for the keys. Then Nikos takes you a few meters to the cliffside hotel and gets you settled. The room’s balcony looks out over the sea and mountainside, and the town itself is quaint and historic. Nikos was really cool to talk to. He speaks wonderful English after living in Baltimore, and his wife made me dinner at the cafe. Her homemade stuffed grape leaves are great!

I loved the silence and peace here, and the view is incredibly beautiful 😍. It’s a simple apartment, and the owner was really kind and helpful. The owner also has a little tavern in Olympos, where I got to try homemade goat cheese for breakfast ♥️. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in Olympos village.

I feel lucky to have spent two nights here. The valley below the balcony, sunsets over the sea, the sound of the wind, and the lovely family who own the place are memories I’ll carry with me. It really was perfection.
