The food felt thoughtful, with tasty dishes and the main courses changing regularly. For a small hotel of around 100 guests, there was plenty of variety. The bar had a good choice of complimentary drinks, and service was quick, friendly, and without queues. We stayed in the second building after the main one, right by the children's pool. Our child spent part of each day there because the sea was still a little cold in the morning. The pool has hydro-massage features, and I enjoyed it too, even though it's meant for kids. There's also a deeper pool, while the sea is only a few steps away. The sandy beach slopes gently into the water, which worked well for little ones. The hotel is right on the seafront. The staff were warm and genuinely kind. Our room was cleaned daily and kept spotless, and the whole place felt welcoming and cozy. Evenings can be quiet and family friendly, though there are disco nights too. I saw large JBL Partybox speakers, and the atmosphere seemed lively. I didn't go to the disco myself. I chose this hotel because its reviews were all positive, and as our holiday was ending, I felt it had been one of the best I've had. I had pictured myself on a lounger with a calm sea and mountains ahead, a chilled Margarita in hand, with nothing else to worry about. That's the peaceful, comfortable break I wanted, and I'd happily recommend the hotel.

It's a small, cozy place with a clean sandy beach and two pools. There were plenty of fancy sunbeds, so we could always find space. The owner runs the hotel as a family business, and the staff were exceptionally helpful, arranging activities around what we needed and finding good prices. Everyone spoke English fluently. Most guests seemed to be European, and I didn't see Russian tourists. There was live music in the evenings. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and I had an amazing stay. I couldn't find anything to fault, highly recommend!

We haven't finished our stay yet, but we're already thinking about coming back next year. The owners, a son and his mom, are so nice and polite, and their hospitality has made us feel very welcome. The beach is beautiful and relaxing, though a little narrow. The restaurant's food has limited variety, but every dish we tried was delicious. The rooms are immaculate, and the daily cleaning means we return to a fresh, tidy space. Some recent nights were a bit noisy because of other guests. We know that's outside the hotel's control and not their fault. Even so, we've had a wonderful time so far and are glad we came. Thanks to the staff for the warm welcome and lovely memories.

The staff made a big impression on me. They were kind, respectful, helpful with advice when asked, and always had a sincere smile. You can tell it's a family run hotel, with everyone pitching in. During our week there were two special evenings, one with a singer and her supporting musician, and another with a disco. Guests joined in and enjoyed both. The hotel is nicely renovated, and I liked how small it was. There was enough room for everyone to find sunbeds by the sea or at either of the two pools. We're sea lovers, so we spent a lot of time there. The beach is sandy and you don't need water shoes. The hotel sits right on the shore, which is unusual on the island. It was built 40 years ago, when building so close to the water was still allowed; newer hotels are farther away. The nearby port is just a five minute walk if you want to go to the mainland or visit Kavala. We didn't take a trip, but our friends liked it. There's also a small town close by with souvenir shops and several restaurants, and we went walking there in the evenings. Food choices were fairly limited, though there was something for meat and fish eaters as well as vegetarians, and nobody would go hungry. Mosquitoes were a nuisance, so bring spray, and the shower was rather cramped. The balcony and hotel terrace made up for those drawbacks, with picturesque sunsets and a captivating view of the sea.

The beach and sea view are fabulous, and this is a peaceful spot for switching off. There are a few shops nearby, and we tried local restaurants too, including some of the best souvlaki we've had. It suited me perfectly for relaxing without noisy parties. I'd call it a 10/10 and hope to return next summer or sometime later. We stayed at Hotel Socrates for a week from 22nd of September. The manager and owner really cared about guests' requests. Our first room had no sea view, but when I asked if we could switch, it was arranged within a few hours. That made me feel they paid attention, even though it hadn't been a big problem for us. The staff were always ready to help. The rooms had what we needed day to day. WIFI worked perfectly, even at the beach, and the AC cooled the whole room in seconds. The bar stayed open for a long time and was near the beach, so it was easy to grab a drink and return to our loungers. You could spend the day outdoors by the pool or beach, with tables where you could eat and drink. The food was great, with something for everyone. Breakfast was usually the same each day, but still very tasty.
