We spent five nights here and will definitely return. Maridatis beach is quiet and secluded, just right if you want to get away from crowds and enjoy the sea. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, with lovely views of the bay and olive trees. The real highlight was the taverna: the fresh fish and octopus were perfectly cooked, and came with homemade appetizers and chilled wine. Mr. Manolis and Eleni made us feel at home, always happy to help and tell us stories about the area. Their warmth made the stay unforgettable. A little paradise for relaxing, with authentic hospitality.

Just four apartments, and the owners are lovely. They run the taverna too. A perfect place to relax.

At night the beach has no lights, so you can sit and enjoy the stars. The place itself is gorgeous, the fresh fish is both cheap and delicious, and the grilled octopus is so tender. On Saturdays the owners put on concerts with local bard music.

This good fish tavern is about 150 metres from Maridatis beach. Manoli, a cheerful gentleman, greets you with a big smile. There’s lovely Greek music, a nice atmosphere and beautiful sea views.

I wouldn’t recommend this for families. After the two-hour drive from Iraklio airport, we’d been there only five minutes when the hosts asked whether our children were always so loud. They told us there would be problems with the other guests. That was our welcome, and the unfriendly attitude continued. The area is very nice, but I got the impression children aren’t welcome. Saturday live music happens every week and was so loud that we couldn’t sleep before 2 a.m.
