Amethyst Luxury Suites - Oia Family Suite

We stayed at Amethyst Luxury Suites for a week on Santorini and had such a fantastic time. It’s a small, intimate hotel with lots of care in the details, and a lovely place to unwind. The quiet setting away from the main attractions made things especially peaceful. Our room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the sea view was stunning. Waking up, opening the window, and seeing the water right there felt magical. Breakfast was delicious and offered plenty of variety. The pool area was beautiful, with lovely sea and sunset views. We also enjoyed a few evenings at the bar, chatting with guests and the team. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. George was a wonderful host, always kind and attentive, with great suggestions for local restaurants and excursions. For Santorini, the value for money is unbeatable. We honestly didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back. 💜

The nicest part was the pool area, which was really pleasant and clean. The rooms were clean too, though average and nothing special, and the facility itself gets four stars from me. Location is about 8 minutes to drive to Oia and 20 minutes to Fira, so 3 1/2 stars there. The rooms get 3 1/2 as well, but service only gets 2. My first issue was the owner, Christo I believe his name was. He didn’t make us feel welcome and showed no customer service. For some reason, most locals on this island seemed dry, rude, and all about money, money hungry. The bar worker had the same attitude as the boss and didn’t speak English at all, so it was hard to order or ask anything without using sign language. At breakfast, you’re on your own, nobody checks whether you need anything or if everything is okay. The one person with a good attitude who was welcoming was a guy named Mohamed Ali. I still don’t know what his job is there, since he seems to be everywhere and does everything, but I’m thankful for him. Another problem I noticed on this island is the lack of garbage containers. Even in the room, there was only one by the toilet, and across the whole facility there was just one more, next to the pool showers.

The small size made for a quiet, private-feeling stay, even around the pool, and the rooms with jacuzzis were perfect for relaxing with your significant other. What stood out most was the friendly, attentive staff. They suggested places to see in Santorini and when to visit them, then helped us find transportation after we were stranded at the airport without notice after midnight. They also arranged a rental car for the next morning. The hotel has stylish, distinctive architecture, and I’d highly recommend it.

We really liked how secluded the hotel was, and spent every morning relaxing by the pool after breakfast. It was awesome value for money. The only issue was a broken handle on our bathroom sink, but we’d got a great price through Airbnb, so it didn’t bother us much.
