Rubini Rooms

We had a great time at this lovely family-run place. It’s close enough to walk to the ferry port and the small beach, and the owner was friendly and helpful. We arrived a little early, and while our room was being prepared, she offered us cold juice and water and somewhere to sit. We enjoyed chatting with her and her cute toddler Nicoletta. There’s also a fantastic bakery nearby. We picked up fresh spinach and feta pastries every day.

For the price, the rooms are generally what you’d expect, and the location is good. The beach is two minutes away, and you can walk to the center of Paroikia in about fifteen minutes. The service was good, and the staff were helpful. There were some serious issues, though. The rooms have no soundproofing, so you can hear everyone on the balcony and in the garden just outside. The bathroom fixtures are quite old, and the toilet takes forever to flush. One bathroom wall doesn’t reach the ceiling. From how clearly I could hear everything, it felt as though my bathroom might share that half wall with the bathroom next door. That’s very strange and, if that’s really the case, unacceptable.

Fine for one night, but I wouldn’t stay longer. The walls are thin, so you hear everything around you. The furniture is old and the beds aren’t comfortable. Worst of all were the mosquitoes. My friends and I started competing to see who could kill the most. We got seven, but there were plenty more, and we couldn’t sleep all night. If you hate mosquitoes as much as I do, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Parikia and the port are both just a short walk away, and you can reach some lovely Paros beaches on foot in about five minutes. The rooms feel cosy and traditional, and ours was quiet and very clean, so we slept well. The service was excellent, especially how polite everyone was. Thanks for having me. Love, Tonia ✨
