Hotel Rigakis

The food and drinks were good, but the beach experience was disgusting, mainly because of the employees. This part of the beach is run by the RIGAKIS hotel. The man looking after the beds and umbrellas kept towels of his own on them and claimed they were all reserved. Then he presented himself as your “friend” who could make a few available if you tipped him. He said it outright: give him money and he would free some beds. It feels like they create the problem and then pretend to solve it for cash. Is the hotel management fine with this practice? If you want a tip, my “friend,” earn it first. The beach itself isn’t anything special, just sand mixed with gravel, and there was a lot of garbage. The whole place felt like a giant ashtray.

If you aren’t a hotel guest and just want to use the sunbeds, expect to be treated like an animal. The attitude and strange looks make it feel like they don’t want you there. Don’t count on a reservation being respected.

The room was clean, the view was very good, and the room itself was okay. But my stay got off to a bad start: the woman at reception seemed very unhappy, didn’t say anything and just handed over the keys. Nobody seemed to smile. They have a beach, but you have to pay for an umbrella as well as whatever you eat there. That felt rude to me, since I thought hotel guests should be able to use it. I wouldn’t recommend the place, even though it’s more like a small motel.

Pefkohori parking is hard to come by, so having the hotel’s own lot is a real luxury. The place isn’t fancy, but its location makes it my number one choice in town. The rooms are clean, there’s a beach bar and a small pool that’s great for children. Breakfast is included and there aren’t other meal options, though there is a restaurant open until 00h. The sandy beach is perfect, with a great entry into the sea in that area. I recommend it, especially for a holiday.
