TheArtemis - Perissa Hotel

The best part was Maria, her mother, and the staff, whose welcome felt like genuine old world hospitality, something rare in hotels now. It's a charming family-run place at the back of Perissa, beneath the cliffs, with the beach, restaurants, and bus stop close by. Breakfast was great, the pool lovely, and the eucalyptus trees around the property add a calm feel. Rooms are a good size and have very private balconies.

Maria and her family were pleasant and looked after us from the minute we arrived. We had a modern, spotless room overlooking the pool, and breakfast was continental with plenty to choose from. Artemis is in a good spot if you don't mind a short walk to the front. It's about an 8-10 minute walk to the church, which is also the main bus stop.

The pool area was peaceful and had a great bar, and the location made it easy to reach the beach, restaurants, and buses into the lively capital. It was about a 10-minute walk. We had a lovely time, and Maria, the owner, brought us a bed topper that helped us rest a little better. We'd booked a 7-day break, and the family-run hotel felt friendly, but a few things were difficult. Most rooms looked very old, the bed was like a rock, the balcony door creaked, and the shower was extremely cramped. We and other guests also felt access would be hard for anyone with a disability: there are no ramps, just jagged stone steps, and some rooms have spiral stairs between the ground floor and the bed. Going to the bathroom at night meant using those stairs. We're not disabled, but some older guests we spoke with struggled with the steps and staircases. The superior rooms cost much more, but are more modern and accessible.

The pool looks out toward the mountainside and an old church, and the upper balconies have an astonishing view. The rooms are modern and really clean, with lovely beds and showers. This family-owned hotel made us feel at home, with the most welcoming people. Breakfast is a small buffet of Greek specialties. The beach is only a five to seven minute walk, right at the end of the road.
