Alma Luxury Resort Hotel

Petra itself is a pleasant base, with a nice yard, a small beach, and a lovely view from the balcony and restaurant. The beach area requires a €10 sunbed spend at the Avlaki restaurant/bar. The town center is about a 15-minute walk, but you’ll need a car for the island’s main sights, monasteries, and churches. We stayed three nights at Lesvion Hotel in Mytilene and really liked it. It’s a 3-star hotel, not on the beach, but very clean, with renovated rooms that felt comfortable. I work in tourism and booked this place after reading reviews, but I wouldn’t choose it for demanding clients. It might suit people on a limited budget. There were several problems with the room. The water tasted strongly of iron and seemed rusty. It took a long time for the air conditioning to cool things down. The towels looked gray, and although we were a couple, we were given two beds without anyone asking our preference. The mattresses were uncomfortable, with springs easy to feel through, and I had back pain. The pillows were flattened and worn. The spare pillows in the closet smelled like old furniture. Breakfast service felt inattentive, as no one checked whether we needed anything. The hotel needs renovation. Marble in the bathroom isn’t what matters to us, we’d prefer cleanliness and a modern, comfortable style. The cleaner did a good job, but the toilet took a long time to refill, drained slowly, and the plumbing seemed outdated. Perhaps the bathrooms and rooms are equipped for people with disabilities, which is good, but we would have appreciated being asked if we wanted anything specific.

We really liked the hotel and its staff. There’s an old, shy orange cat around. We gave him wet food from the supermarket, which costs 50 cents. He’s not doing too well, though not terribly either, and he warms up to you. He deserves some love.

The staff were friendly, and there was plenty of room to park. I also liked the beach and the little café in front of the hotel, a nice spot to swim and relax. My room was spacious, with the air conditioner positioned so the cold air didn’t blow right on you. The balcony was big enough to hang wet clothes around. Breakfast had a rich selection, and the dining hall was pleasant. Definitely feels worth five stars!

The staff were great and always ready to help. Breakfast was excellent too, with lots to choose from.
