We watched the sun set over the mountains and sea from the balcony each evening. You can see the beach and ocean from there and from the kitchen windows. The location is good: cafes, a grocery store and the beach are within walking distance, though there are some fairly steep hills, so we usually drove down. This was our first trip to Crete and our first time renting a whole villa, and Villa Rea was amazing. It's modern, with high-quality finishes, and the pool was a good size for four. We liked having separate kids' and adult pools. Beside the pool there's a covered spot with a BBQ, picnic table, sink and mini-fridge, which saved us trips upstairs for drinks. The rooms were a good size, with double beds and shelving. Every room had AC, which helped at night and when we wanted a break from the heat. The kitchen had a stove, oven, dishwasher and everything else we needed. We also used the washer and dryer in the main bathroom a few times during our 10-day stay. A few technical issues came up, but staff sorted them quickly and answered our texts promptly. They left us some food and drink as a welcome, along with a few thoughtful surprises during the stay. There are four similar units in the complex, and we sometimes heard activity from the others, which was expected and didn't bother us. Villa Rea has spoiled us. I'm not sure we'll want to stay anywhere but villas from now on. It was a wonderful place, the staff were so helpful, and we're already trying to work out when we can come back.
