Acropole Hotel

Our room was very nice, and the staff were lovely, helpful, and easy to reach. The hotel is close to the port, with plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby. We'd stay again if we're in the area.

The reception staff were genuinely lovely and a pleasure to deal with, but the hotel itself made a decent night's sleep impossible. The port is nearby, although getting to the ferry terminal still takes about a 25-minute walk. Our bed sagged badly. When we lifted the mattress, several slats were missing and the headboard was broken, so it felt like sleeping in a collapsing hammock. The bathroom also looked neglected, with black patches that looked like mold and fixtures in need of a thorough clean or renovation. The walls barely block sound. We could hear other rooms and conversations from the echoing reception downstairs. The owner's parrot was another problem. At exactly 7am it started whistling nonstop, and the sound carried along the hallways and into the rooms. With the poor soundproofing, sleeping after that was impossible. The bird needs a proper home, and guests shouldn't have to put up with this. When I raised the broken bed, the offer was an 11% discount, about €8. I found that insulting and refused it. The place felt neglected and below a basic standard, so I want other travelers to know it's not worth it. Add the bed, the mold, the thin walls, and the 7am parrot alarm together, and the hotel's failed at its most basic job. I'd pay more elsewhere, ideally somewhere with an airport transfer included, since this hotel charges €70 for one. The kind reception staff were the only redeeming part, and their warmth is wasted in a hotel that can't provide a good night's sleep.

For ferry travelers, the location right by the harbour is very convenient. I stayed just one night, paid a reasonable price, and found the room very clean with nothing missing. Reception was super friendly and available all day and night.

We got in late, and the receptionist was really friendly. They arranged a taxi for the next morning and helped us sort out breakfast. The room was spotless, the towels were nice, and the bed was comfortable. It's in a great spot for catching a ferry the next morning. We'd gladly recommend the place and will be back. 👍
