If you’re fine with shopping at the local markets or the Masoutis down the road, this place works well. The apartment is nice, with internet, water, and waste services included. There’s a laundromat on site, but you’ll need to check whether it’s available. Almost everything is within walking distance. I’ve walked nearly every acre of the island within two kilometres of here. The shortest walks are around 30 minutes; if you’re adventurous, you could spend six hours walking, plus extra time for photos and rests. Other nearby areas can take three to four hours on foot, and it’s all great. This location gives you a real chance to experience the island. Cellphone signal can be patchy in some spots, so download any maps, music, or other help you might need. It works well whether you’re alone or with a family of four, maybe even five. I recommend this hotel.

The manager was very helpful, the Wi-Fi was fast enough, and the local bus stop is only a few steps away. Old Plaka, with plenty of restaurants and a few sunset-view spots, is a 10-15 minute walk. The Catacombs are just metres away, and Sarakiniko beach is a short drive. Our clean, roomy little apartment had a kitchenette and an extra bed for our son. We also enjoyed the balcony’s sea views at sunset.

Our group and another couple arrived to find the hotel overbooked, and neither of us got the room we had booked. Ours was supposed to be 35m2 with a balcony and living room, but we were put in a small bedroom without a window. There wasn’t even warm water for us the first night. The owner was drunk, and the person responsible for bookings was in Athens and paid no attention to our concerns. The staff on site had no authority or information to help, and the people we reached didn’t cooperate or resolve anything. I spent three hours waiting for a solution. Someone on the phone kept promising we’d change rooms, but it never happened.

The view and location are nice, but at this price I expected at least soap and shampoo in the bathroom, or some water in the fridge.
