We stayed at "Petasos House" for over a month, and it was a beautiful time. We were greeted so warmly and quickly introduced to local tips and treats. The owners were always happy to answer our questions about Crete and suggest places to visit. Sellia is a great base, with supermarkets, taverns, and other essentials, as well as lovely beaches nearby and easy access to the road heading north across Crete. Our neighbors were really kind, sharing vegetables and milk with us. Living in a traditional Greek village, away from the tourist areas, gave us a chance to learn about the language and everyday life. We came as a small family with two children, and the house suited us perfectly. We highly recommend it and thank the owners again for such a lovely stay. We'll be back! (Sorry for my bad English.)

I've been to this house in Crete several times, and I wouldn't swap it for anywhere else. I'm German, and I really admire the Greek hospitality that the people at Petasos house showed me and my wife. Amazing!

The place matched the listing and our expectations for its location, condition, and facilities. There was plenty of practical stuff on hand, too, including towels, bedding, tablecloths, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and a first-aid kit. The one thing I missed was meeting the landlord's family. We only communicated through WhatsApp, even when we arrived. Plakias/Sellia can get very windy. That's probably nice when it's over 30 degrees Celsius, but several days of stormy gusts made swimming difficult and eating on the balcony or in the garden nearly impossible. The wind also caused a lot of noise: the ventilation wheel on the fireplace chimney kept rattling, there was noise in the fireplace, and something on the roof, possibly the photovoltaic system, rattled loudly as well. In those conditions, restful sleep was hard. So, everything was good, but...

The view is incredible, and the house is quiet and very clean. We're a family with a baby, and it had all the comforts we needed to feel at home, including a playpen and high chair. I highly recommend it.
