Caldera Theros Villas Chania

Each villa has its own pool, which we absolutely loved, and the grounds are pretty and well tended. The villas are spaced out nicely, making for a peaceful, relaxed stay in a convenient location. It’s about a mostly flat 10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket and bar. There was a lovely welcome pack of fruit, water, and wine waiting for us. The children’s play area isn’t great, but there’s plenty to do in Platanias. The resort is a short walk away, so you don’t need a car if you’re happy to walk. There are also plenty of buses to Chania. We’d definitely come back and recommend the villas for a holiday in Platanias.

We came back in 2025 and stayed in a 3 bedroom villa this time. It was just as beautiful, in a peaceful area, about an 8 minute walk from the main road in Platanias. We’ll be back again next year. The year before, we stayed in the 3-bed superior villa and liked it so much that we booked again for the following year. The views were stunning, and it was very quiet. Shops and the main road were an 8 minute walk away, and the beach was about 12 minutes away. The villas were spotless, with a large indoor pool. It was all one depth, and at 5' 3" I could only just keep my head above water, but it wasn’t really a problem. The family were very friendly, and the grounds were beautiful and well kept. The pool doors took a bit of getting used to, then were easy to manage.

There were nine of us guys, and we had a great time. The villa was spacious, with nice gardens and a great pool. The cleaners did a really good job.

The villa is about a 10 min walk from a well-stocked local supermarket and the restaurants, with plenty to choose from. We didn’t have a bad meal anywhere. Lidl is about 5 mins away by car. It’s around a 20 minute walk to the pebble beach, where the waves can be rough, though the water is warm and nice for an evening walk. Agia Marina Beach is sandier and calmer, better for little ones. I’d highly recommend the Caldera villas. Caldera Villa - Afroditi (sleeps 8/9) is beautiful and luxurious, spacious and bright, with modern touches and a traditional Greek feel. The grounds were pretty and well maintained. We were greeted on arrival, shown around, and given a light lunch of salad and sandwiches with a bottle of wine, a thoughtful touch. The bedrooms are a good size, with three balconies and lovely views. The breeze on them was very welcome in July. Beds were clean, with extra pillows and blankets, and towels were provided. There’s air conditioning throughout, with simple controls. The kitchen has an oven, microwave, electric hob, and a good-sized fridge freezer. Bathrooms have handwash, toilet roll, and hairdryers. They’re a nice size, though the finishing needs a little attention, with some messy tiles and silicone. The pool is lovely and big, but it’s 1.55 metres deep throughout and unheated. Because it’s indoors and out of direct sun, the water doesn’t warm much. The outer doors to the pool can be tricky, and glass doors inside can be closed off for safety with young children. Most windows and doors have easy-to-use electric locks, though some didn’t close or lock properly. The family on site who look after the villa were helpful and accommodating. They have a cat and dog on the grounds, both calm and no bother.
