Achillion Hotel

The food was acceptable, but the owner’s behavior made this the worst hotel experience I’ve had. He was very impolite and treated us as if we were at a military base. After 11 pm, we were sitting quietly without making noise, yet he kept insisting we go to our rooms, even though we weren’t breaking any laws. We weren’t allowed to leave even a simple bottle of water on the table because drinks had to be bought from the hotel, but nothing there was open after 11pm. It felt as though he just wanted to argue with guests instead of showing hospitality. There was also a very unpleasant smell around reception.

The best part was the cleanliness. My room was modest and simple, but very clean. Towels and bed sheets were changed every 2 days and were really clean, and rubbish was taken from the room daily. The staff were nice and polite to me. I stayed at Hotel Achillion in August 2025, and it was an okay stay, though to me it felt more like a 2-star than a 3-star hotel. It’s very outdated and not up to today’s standards. There was a particular smell in both reception and the room, probably from the old furniture. Breakfast was basic, with a small selection, but enough to fill you up. The bathroom was a bigger drawback. There’s no shower stall, glass partition, or waterproof curtain, just a basin to stand in and a hose attached to the tap. Water splashed across the room when I washed, leaving the whole floor wet. It took a while to drain and dry. The old ventilation fan was loud and annoying, even though it didn’t work intensely. It switched on with the bathroom light, with no separate switch, so I heard it every time I turned on the light, even when it wasn’t needed. The bathroom light was so dim that I couldn’t see well enough to use the mirror for makeup or facial care. The bedroom lights were dim too, so I turned them all on in the evening to see properly. I think they used the weakest bulbs to save money, maybe 60W or less. The TV worked poorly, with a bad picture and no sound. I’d wanted to listen to music on a music channel, but couldn’t. It wasn’t terrible since my expectations weren’t high, but it could have been better. I think investment in the infrastructure, renovation, and updated furniture would attract more tourists.

The staff really paid attention to the little things. I was traveling with my child and had pushed two single beds together. Housekeeping spotted the gap and placed a small mattress piece there, making a comfortable king-sized bed. That care impressed me, and the service throughout was exceptional. The room was impeccably clean, and towels and linens were refreshed regularly. Breakfast was delightful, with lots of tasty choices. Everything felt perfect from the moment we arrived, and I had an outstanding stay. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return.

The peaceful setting suited us as a couple, and made it easy to unwind and enjoy quiet time together. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful vacation here and were extremely satisfied. The rooms were cozy, very clean, and well furnished, a lovely place to relax. Staff were incredibly friendly and always smiling, which made the atmosphere pleasant throughout our stay. We enjoyed the delicious, varied food, with plenty to choose from, including traditional dishes and more refined options.
