The resident cats and kittens were the best part for my child. They were friendly and quickly became a real source of joy, especially since there wasn't much else for her to do as an English speaker. The animation team seemed to cater exclusively to French guests. Activities were all in French, and only French-speaking children and adults seemed to be included. We felt left out and had hoped for more inclusive entertainment for our child. The food was another letdown for a 4-star hotel. It was below expectations in quality, and there wasn't much variety. The beds were very uncomfortable and made it hard to sleep, although the rooms themselves were nice and well maintained. The reception staff, waiters, and chefs were lovely and welcoming. I did notice a young blond girl carrying plates with her hair down, which seemed unhygienic. I have mixed feelings about my stay at the Sun Palace Hotel in Kos. There were some good points, but the poor food, uncomfortable beds, and exclusive French-language entertainment are significant drawbacks. I'd look elsewhere if you're not French-speaking or want a more comfortable and inclusive stay.

The staff were the only thing I found nice and friendly. The rooms were fairly comfortable, but the bathroom door lock was broken, which was annoying. I don't understand the positive comments about the food. Between lunch and dinner, the only snack was pancakes, so if you don't like them, you stay hungry. Breakfast was very poor, with awful scrambled eggs made from dried eggs. Is it really so hard to use real eggs? The breakfast spread was sparse, and the food selection was much worse than at other four stars hotels in this area. Everything was communicated in French, including the entertainment, with no English at all. Why not use English, or at least both languages? I'm from Poland, and felt like a lower-category guest just because I'm not French. I really don't recommend this hotel.

The bar service was friendly, and there aren't many children staying here, which is nice if you want peace and quiet. This feels like a hotel for French speakers, with all the entertainment in French. The Swedish buffet was average. Rooms need renovation, smell damp, and have lots of cockroaches.

The Greek staff were the highlight of my stay. They were kind, helpful, funny, and easy to talk to, and made an effort to keep me comfortable. The other guests and people working there were nice too, and the staff helped make up for the hotel's shortcomings. I'd ended up at Sun Palace on an all inclusive holiday through one of the Polish agencies. I was surprised to find it was mostly a French hotel, with entertainment arranged for French guests. Even the TV was set to French, so I felt like I was in France rather than Greece. I love an international atmosphere, and if I'd known, I wouldn't have agreed to stay there. The hotel seemed more like 3 stars, with the basics provided but questionable quality. For the price, after travelling all over the world, I definitely expected a higher standard. The food was average, and I got food poisoning on day 2. The drinks were weak, maybe 20% alcohol plus juice. The locking system on the doors was very strange. The TV had just 10 channels, mostly French. The beach was disappointing, while the pool was nice but very loud because all the entertainment happened there. The room was okay and clean, with a somewhat worn, basic bathtub.

We were lucky to have our room ready at 9:30 am, though reception is open 24/7, so late check-ins are quite possible. Standard check-in starts from 2pm, which makes very early check-ins less likely. It's a calm spot away from city noise. All day you mostly hear birds and insects. The rooms are clean, staff are nice, and the pools are fine. Around 90% of the guests are from French tui, so that's something to consider when booking. The beach is about a 5 min walk along a narrow path through the bird park. The food is much like other places, though the salads and fruit come from the hotel's own garden. I saw a couple of cows and donkeys, so I'd guess they might make some of the cheese on the premises, but I didn't confirm that with staff. Despite the very hot weather, the sea stayed coldish all day because the winds bring a strong current. There are several wind surfing schools on the beach by the hotel, with instruction available in French, Russian, Polish, and English for sure. For other languages, check with the school or its site when booking.
