Art Hotel Santorini

For the price, the room needs a little work. The toilet seat and lid were broken, so there was no point lifting them up and down. The blinds by the pool didn’t work properly and were a struggle to move. There were also lots of cracks around the bed, with cement peeling away. That said, the staff were amazing and really friendly. The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was good, delivered to the room with some options to customize it. We also enjoyed the outdoor pool and its view over the area toward the ocean, especially at sunset. The location is quiet and pleasant, around a 10-minute walk from Pyrgos city center. It was a nice hotel overall, but it needs some repairs for what it costs.

The spotless rooms and excellent service made this a 10/10 stay. Ivan greeted us with a smile at breakfast each morning, and Fragiskos was extremely polite and helpful. I’d had mixed feelings about Santorini, but the staff here changed my mind. Staying anywhere other than Art Hotel would be a mistake.

For four days, we couldn’t count on having hot water in the shower. There was just one day when it was briefly hot. Neighbors who had stayed longer told us they’d had the same problem. A technician and another staff member came and temporarily fixed one shower, but it turned cold again soon afterward. They never provided a lasting fix. The bathroom also had a broken mirror and damaged shower tiles. It was a very disappointing and frustrating stay.

There are great views, and some rooms are nice, but the place felt soulless and depressing. The pool area looks abandoned and needs painting, the bar has been closed for a long time, and there’s no music. The website pictures show something different. Apart from one helpful, friendly receptionist, there was no staff around. There’s no reception after 9pm, so sort out your medical bag and emergency service details before you go. The hotel has nothing to do with art, despite the name. I was expecting a gallery. Hotel Orizontes Santorini down the road is a better place to spend the day. There’s no entry charge, they have music, and they serve you by the pool. Amazing.
