Eleni at the blue gate is what makes Culture House Hotel stand out. She's fluent in English, can help you learn some Greek, and shares local tips and recommendations. She and the capable staff made sure everything was in order at this beautifully restored 19th C, Street front mansion. At checkout, we had an 11AM departure from the hotel but a 10PM flight. Eleni stored our bags while we went to the beach, fined, and returned to use her special lavatory-shower room to freshen up. There was no extra charge. I rented two adjoining rooms, and they were more like apartments. Each had its own rear patio, a balcony overlooking the streets, and a wide view of the ocean. Inside, there was a large living room, kitchenette, shower bath, and high groin-vaulted ceiling. The substantial old wood doors and shuttered period windows had been carefully restored, with artisan hardware that worked perfectly. The green-efficient heat pump air conditioner cooled the whole apartment in minutes and kept the digital setting steady overnight. Breakfast was free, modest but enough. The dining room felt a little cramped for a typical lively European crowd, so arrive early if you want enough elbow room at a table.

Right in the heart of pyrgos, this is a well-equipped holiday villa, and vehicle rental places are just a 3-5 minute walk away. There's also a beautiful restaurant practically next door, about 20 paces from the door, open until around midnight. The staff are lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Our room had a balcony, a small kitchen area with a coffee machine, fridge, cutlery and a few plates and bowls, plus a lovely king-size bed, sofa, dining table and chairs, AC, and hairdryer. Pretty much everything you need for a lovely week away. Can't wait to come back soon.

The villa had wonderful views, and the free breakfast was amazing. The host was excellent, as was the location. I highly recommend Cultural House and Pyrgos for a stay on the island. It's a genuine city where you can experience local culture without lots of touristy things, and it's still easy to get there by bus.

Eleni was a huge help with booking our taxis, and the breakfast service was amazing. I still need to find out more about the apple pastry! It's a lovely little place in a convenient spot, with beautiful views from a balcony that has seating.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and the location is great, close to the bus stop and village restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and very nice, brought right to the room on an adorable little tray.
