The location in the heart of Pyrgos is the one real positive: the village is beautiful and convenient. The room was as described on the website, so the accommodation itself met expectations. The service, though, was disappointing. We had arranged an airport transfer in advance, but no one came to collect us. After calling the host, we eventually found her waiting in Pyrgos village, which was frustrating after a long trip. At check-in, nobody told us the door locks automatically when it closes. We got locked out while using the jacuzzi and waited more than an hour in the heat for the host to arrive. I started feeling unwell, and there was no apology for the missing information that led to this. We also had to ask twice to have the soap dispenser refilled and to get the daily bottle of water, basic things that should have been provided without reminders. A complimentary bottle of wine was advertised with the booking, but we never got it, even after bringing it up. It's presented as a hotel, but the service didn't even match a basic Airbnb. The lack of care and hospitality made the stay a letdown, so I can't give it more than two stars.

The peaceful setting in Pyrgos made it easy to get to Oia and other parts of Santorini while still having a quiet place to retreat to. Kastro Mansion is beautifully designed, with traditional architecture alongside modern comforts. Our room was spacious and spotless, and the caldera views were breathtaking. Our host was welcoming and went out of their way to make us comfortable, especially by helping arrange taxis and suggesting car rentals. Tony, the bellboy, was attentive and friendly, and Irene gave us a wonderful tour of the mansion. Her tips on places to visit and eat really added to our island experience. I'd highly recommend Kastro Mansion. Thank you for such a great stay!

Kastro Mansion was incredible, with fantastic staff, a stunning location and views, and an outdoor bath that was hard to believe. We strongly recommend staying there. Santorin itself felt a bit too touristy for our taste. A 10-minute cab ride costs 25 euros, restaurants run at least about 25 euros per person, like Paris or New York, without a good reason, and you can often feel like a walking wallet.

We spent 11 nights in „Zeus“ and loved the apartment. Irene was incredibly friendly and available whenever we had questions. We were also so grateful for the upgrade to Zeus. The place was clean, and housekeeping did a great job. The only little thing to be aware of is the five-minute uphill walk from Pyrgos main square to the accommodation. Once there, you get a lovely view and sunsets each evening. We really hope to come back. And being on vacation doesn't mean you have to switch off your brain, there's always a quick way to get organized on the island and in Pyrgos.

Irene was helpful from the time we booked, and we were upgraded to the Atlantis House. It's a lovely place, and breakfast at Botargo restaurant was great. One thing we hadn't been told beforehand: if you want a donkey to carry your bags at checkout, there's an extra 10 euro charge. It would have been good to know that on our first day.
