Caretta Beach Villa

The setting was quiet, with lovely coastal views at the end of the track, and Skala was only a 5-10 minute drive away for restaurants like Anemos and Avli Ratzakli. The small pool was clean and just right for two. We booked the studio villa through Solmar for a week in July 2025. It sits in the garden of a house that was empty during our stay, behind a wall so we weren't directly overlooked. The problems started before we arrived: Solmar advertised a concierge who could arrange grocery delivery, but after asking twice we got no reply and bought supplies on the way instead. When we arrived, housekeeping hadn't been told we were coming. The toilet area was stained and the place was dusty. Solmar arranged a cleaner for the next day; she was lovely, clearly upset about the mix-up, showed us her diary as proof she hadn't been informed, and did a great job. The garden was also overgrown, with grass up to my knees in places. We reported it, along with a large wasp nest by the patio, and both were dealt with. The nest took three treatments. A proper inspection before the rental could have caught all this. The bedding and towels had been left in bin bags, so I made the bed myself. It's a small double and badly needs a new mattress, and some sheets were torn. With a bit of care the villa could be lovely, but this was our first time with Solmar and I'm not sure I'd book through them again.
