The hotel is right in the old town, so shops and restaurants are a short walk away. There's also a little park behind the restaurant in front of the hotel, full of friendly cats. With only five suites, it feels very peaceful, and the rooms are set apart enough that you hardly bump into other guests. Our room was huge and had a really interesting design, clearly planned with couples in mind. There was an open shower, a big bathtub, and a proper double bed instead of two singles. It was cleaned every day, with towels and sheets changed often. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast was freshly prepared, delicious, and had a good range of options. Such a delightful, unique stay. Just wow.

The breakfast cooks deserve a special mention. The meals were included and absolutely amazing, and I can't praise the chef enough. Thanks for having me, I'll be back next time I'm in Creta. I stayed in June 2025 for a few days and, sorry this Google review is so late. The location is the best you'll find in the area, and the collection has just five villas. Villa 2 was my pick. People kept coming over to the front entrance area because it was such a beautiful setup. It's two stories, and you cross the pool on floating steps to reach the front door, a lovely design detail. Guest services were amazing, with really attentive staff. I mostly spoke with Maria and Josey (UK), and felt very well looked after. Whatever I needed, I was able to get.

Everything is within walking distance since the place is right in town, though parking can be a hassle. The suites are lovely, and the charm you see on the website or Instagram is real. Staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They did a really nice job preparing breakfast just for us, with different dishes on different days. We enjoyed our stay.

Room 4 had a sunny balcony and a sea view, and the surroundings were beautiful, all natural stone, wood, and water. Breakfast was amazing and filling. The staff really go out of their way to help you feel happy and relaxed. We had a lovely 10-day stay at Amalen Suites and would come back, but would bring earplugs because the area gets noisy at night. That's no fault of the hotel.

We spent five nights at Amalen Suites and wished we could have stayed longer. It was one of the most unique hotels we've visited, and everything felt just right for our honeymoon. We loved having a private pool and lounge area, and spent two days simply relaxing at the hotel. The location makes it easy to walk to everything we wanted to explore in Rethymno. Staff were kind and ready to help with whatever we needed, from arranging port transfers to recommending places for dinner. Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of delicious food. Amalen Suites is a beautiful little oasis, and we'll definitely return to explore more of the island and enjoy the hospitality again.
