Freedom Apartment Central Beach Rethymno

I was there for just one day, but had a very good experience. The apartment was sparkling clean and modern, with a view of the beach. It’s also not far from the centre.

I’ll add my view since I’ve been reading the comments below: the complaints about cleanliness weren’t false. The armchairs really were dirty, the wall above the kitchen was dotted with oil, and there were salts and dust around the bathroom. Cleanliness was poor, even if the place was a little modern. There were no blankets, just light duvets, and nobody told us the house had independent heating. We didn’t leave trash behind; we took it all when we left, and as customers we weren’t obliged to take it away. Keeping the place clean is your responsibility. There was no shampoo or soap either, despite the Airbnb listing mentioning them. Since we’re in tourism too, we tried to support you and overlook all this by giving five stars. It seems your ego keeps you from seeing the reality. Beyond the dirty house, your conduct as a hostess is misleading to future customers, as your comment above shows. They’ll judge for themselves.

The house is in a good location, and the hostess was kind and fairly helpful when we communicated. But we found cleanliness seriously lacking. There was garbage under the sofas, and the windows were streaked; the floor hadn’t been swept or mopped. The armchairs were stained and dirty enough that we didn’t want to sit on them. She left us a rotten, torn betex in a basin as a gift, and the basin itself was dirty and didn’t work: flushing the toilet sent nothing through. The shower phone was rusty, and the tiles were covered in salts. The AC in the second bedroom only blew cold, icy air and didn’t work properly, which was especially uncomfortable with 4 degrees Celsius outside. I’m sorry, but this house doesn’t meet the standard for a clean environment.

Apart from the apartment’s location, the stay was a shame. I can’t understand how a hostess could let guests into a dirty place. It may have been off-season and there might not have been a cleaner, but once you accept a booking, you need to make sure guests can feel comfortable, even for one night. I couldn’t sit anywhere or walk barefoot without thinking about the dirt. The bathroom had only paper, with no shampoo or shower gel despite saying they were provided, and we had to press the toilet flush more than four times. There was oil on the kitchen extractor fan, and the coffee makers, toaster and other cupboard items were dirty and covered in fingerprints. The toilet cupboard was broken, and there was something under the sink in the garbage cupboard that previous guests had probably left. The AC blew no air in one room and didn’t work properly in the other. I’ll stop here, though more things keep coming back to me as I write. Your comment personally offended me, since I’ve worked in tourism for many years and have my own company. The five stars were clearly given in solidarity, yet we got a negative review that reflects on our cleanliness and manners. Friendly advice: be honest in your reviews, especially when speaking about someone who paid for accommodation and cleaning, and provide what you’re selling. It would be appreciated.
