I wish I could give this place zero. We've stayed on nine islands this year and changed accommodation nine times, plus two different hotels in Athens. This was the worst place of the whole trip, and honestly the worst I've ever stayed in. The photos on Booking don't match what you get. Ms. Katerina was very pleasant, but that didn't change how bad the accommodation was. The place was extremely dirty. We paid $205 for three nights, about the same as on other islands, but the rooms there weren't even comparable. The bathroom smelled strongly of mold, which was all over the shower, and I couldn't breathe without sneezing. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months. There was mold and rust, and the shower enclosure was broken and held together with tape. The top section didn't stay in place, so water sprayed out, and more water leaked by the wall and left the bathroom flooded. There was no mop or cleaning material to deal with it. The sink had limescale, the shower enclosure was marked white with soap and shampoo residue, and the shower head was dirty and moldy. Disgusting. The two wardrobe drawers were broken. One had a dirty towel left inside by previous guests, with a plastic cup on top. The rusty stovetop and area around the kitchen sink were dirty, with little black food bits, lots of limescale, and a dirty dish soap holder. The sponge was new, at least. The fridge was dirty and had crumbs in it, and there was a sticky black straw on top of the fridge, below the stove. They left three bottles of water, but one cap wasn't sealed, so maybe someone had put tap water in it, or something. Finding the house was a mess. We couldn't locate it even with three navigation apps because there are no clear signs. There's a small sign on the house, but it faces the wrong way. You can only see it from the stairs after going past the trees, and even then it points in the wrong direction. From the park, trees and bushes hide the house. Behind it is a pebble path that's hard on luggage wheels, and the path by Nimos restaurant has metal bars you have to lift your bags over. At night, those paths felt scary. There was rubbish, old broken scooters, urine and cat poop smells, and too little light. There was no hotel sign at the entrance along that path either. On the park side, the dirt path was dusty and also awkward with luggage. We couldn't find the entrance, so an older man from a nearby restaurant called Katerina. He said they often see guests who have gotten lost. When we left, two cleaners had washed the stairs with so much water that it mixed with the dust and dirt, making it impossible to walk out through the park with our suitcases. The owners should send clearer directions in their messages. A map would be easy to provide. The dining table was tiny and so low that when you sit on the bed it's below your knees, like a child's table. Eating there felt like eating off the floor, really uncomfortable. The room was dirty and disgusting, nothing like the made-up photos on Booking.

The apartment was very clean, modern, functional, and had all the comforts. It was also cool and quiet, right in the centre, close to the port and bus station, and had satellite TV. I'd definitely stay again. There are a few practical drawbacks: no place to hang swimsuits or wet towels, no laundry room, and no parking, even for bicycles. The road is paved with pretty mosaic pebbles rather than asphalt, but it's awkward with a wheeled suitcase. A backpack is fine. Daniele and Claudia (Verona, Italy)

This was easily the worst stay we've had in Greece, and I wish I could give it half a star. The apartment was much smaller than the photos suggested, with awkward angled walls in the bedroom that wasted space. We booked for three, but there were only two sets of towels. There was one bowl and no cups, so we couldn't have breakfast. The owner fixed the bowl and towel after we raised it. We also received $150 for a completely unrelated issue: they didn't answer our messages for hours. The stove kept tripping the breaker even when very little was plugged in, basically just the AC, so cooking wasn't possible. The shower was tiny, and its curtain clung to you and stopped above the floor, leaving the bathroom and mat soaked each time. The shower head bracket was loose, so you had to hold the head the whole time. It fell onto my head once before I realized it couldn't support the nozzle. The floor drain cover was loose, and the sink plug had to stay out or it would seal the drain. The kitchen faucet wouldn't turn, and trying to move it just bent the metal sink it was attached to. We weren't told that a cleaner would be coming regularly, and one entered the apartment while we were there. Communication in general was poor, and this apartment was horrendous compared with the other places we stayed. I wouldn't recommend it. One thing to know, toilet paper can't be flushed. That's the same throughout the rest of Old Rhodes, so it's not a complaint, just something to be aware of.

The apartment was in a nice, quiet spot, and the staff were friendly. It was handy that we could leave our luggage at a nearby hotel before check-in or after checkout. The downsides were the noise from upstairs, where we could hear footsteps and things falling, and the plumbing: water running in other people's rooms could be heard in our bathroom, and the shower had mold marks.

Several times now I've stayed in these apartments, and I'll definitely come back. They're right in the heart of this wonderful historic town, with plenty of nearby taverns and restaurants worth trying. The rooms are clean and suitable, and the service is super friendly and easy to reach whenever needed.
