Filmar Hotel

Very basic, dated hotel, and noisy too. Breakfast was just passable. The old room furniture and the reception, which wasn't much use, didn't help. There were no open toilets at reception, and they still use shower curtains. The air con leaked onto the balcony. Rooms facing the sea get noise from the karaoke bar out front until 2 am. Ixia was very dirty, with people leaving their litter behind. I don't recommend it. Spend your money elsewhere.

The Wi-Fi never worked, and there was no staff around when we needed anything. For the whole stay, the bedding and towels were only tidied up to look as if they'd been changed. The pool was misleading too. It belongs to the hotel next door, and you have to buy something at their bar to use it. The online picture isn't what you actually get, and I wish we'd known beforehand. I guess this place is fine if you're planning to be out all day and night.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, plus car and scooter rentals everywhere. A bus stop is close by, with trips to Rhodes city costing 2,5€. The beach is rocky and fairly empty, not great for swimming, but nice for sunbathing since there's always a breeze. The Greek people are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is nice and inexpensive, with friendly staff. We ate breakfast at a nearby restaurant that was serving meals on the hotel's behalf at the time, and the food was delicious. It's near a busy street and has no yard or playground, so maybe not the best choice with children. The bathrooms can be small, and the walls are thin if your neighbors are noisy. There's a pool shared with another hotel, plus a nice pool across the street where you can stay for 5€ and have a drink.

The main problems during our week-long stay were the tiny bathroom and the cleaning. It was impossible to shower without getting water all over the room. Towels and the bedspread weren't changed every day, and the top of the closet was never cleaned. The closet door also couldn't open because a table was in the way. The room itself was nice, with a balcony and air conditioning. Breakfast was the same each day, toast, juices, and eggs prepared in different ways. Guests can use the pool next door, which is nice, and the beach is close, though the sunbeds are expensive or private. Rhodes town is about 5km away, with buses and taxis available near the hotel.
