Mercure Rhodes Alexia Hotel & Spa

The building has a lot going for it: it’s recently renovated, clean, modern, and pleasant to look at, with comfortable rooms and real potential. What let us down was the communication. Before we arrived, Mr. Nikitas from the front office replied to my email and said my requests would be handled. I’d asked for slippers, bathrobes, extra towels for three people, and a sea-view room. None were provided. Instead of a sea view, our room faced neighboring hotels, and nothing had been set up for the third guest. We had only two glasses, two cups, and two bottles of water, with no slippers, bathrobes, or extra towels. It’s disappointing, because the hotel could otherwise have left a very positive impression. Promises like these need to be kept, or guests should be told honestly when something can’t be done. Trust and loyalty are easily damaged when a hotel makes promises it doesn’t deliver on.

The food was some of the best I tasted on my trip, and the hotel was clean and tidy. Staff were really friendly and gave great recommendations. Check-in and checkout were quick too. It’s a comfortable, centrally located place in Rhodes town that I’d happily recommend. The only downside was a large hotel construction project right next door during my stay, though the dust and noise weren’t a problem.

We hardly got any proper sleep. At night, clubs and bars nearby played loud music late, and early each morning the construction site directly across from the hotel was noisy with drilling, machinery, and workers. The hotel was beautiful, freshly renovated, and clean, and the staff were genuinely friendly and always tried to help. But the combination of nightlife and construction made our three-night stay very difficult. I understand that the hotel can’t control construction or the area’s nightlife. It can control how clearly it informs guests. This huge site should be clearly mentioned on the booking page so people can make an informed choice before paying. It’s the lack of transparency about issues that affected comfort and sleep that disappointed me most and damaged my trust.

I had a delightful three-night stay. From my balcony, I could enjoy beautiful ocean sunsets, and the location was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and responded to my requests quickly and enthusiastically.
