The room was clean when we arrived, had enough space, and came with a balcony. The pool is great, with sunbeds and room for plenty of people, and the reception staff are lovely. Breakfast is included, and the food is decent enough to get you through the morning. What made me uncomfortable was how the breakfast staff watched us. Three or four of them stayed in the area while we ate, staring without smiling whenever I took a bite or got up for food, a napkin, or juice. I’m not sure why they kept such a close eye on guests. I saw another review saying they monitor how much juice people have, and I can’t say that’s entirely true, but the constant watching definitely didn’t feel good.

We felt truly welcomed and cared for here, thanks to a team that seemed to take real pride in looking after guests. The receptionist especially made our stay unforgettable. He greeted us with a smile and positive energy, helped with whatever came up, and offered directions, things to see, and booking help with genuine enthusiasm. His suggestions were excellent, including a nearby restaurant where we had one of our best meals on the trip. The rest of the staff were lovely as well. The man serving breakfast was kind and friendly, and mornings started with his warm smile and good service. The woman working with him was sweet and attentive. Another receptionist was helpful and welcoming, and our housekeeper kept the room fresh and spotless every day. The hotel itself was clean, well cared for, and close to the main attractions while still being in a quiet area. The pool was clean, had a beautiful view, and was a lovely place to unwind after exploring. We’d return in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone visiting Santorini.

Our villa next to Marybill hotel had a pipe problem, so they moved us to the hotel at no charge. We’d hesitated because its Google rating was 3.6 while the villa was rated 4.9, but we thought the hotel was more than fine and the reviews didn’t seem right. I’m not sure what people expect from a 4-star place. We had a huge room, normally a triple, with an extra bed, plus a very large balcony with a nice view and a sunrise or sunset view. The bathroom was an okay size and had a bathtub. They also gave us breakfast for free, and the pool was beautiful. Having breakfast beside it was wonderful.

The pool and surrounding view were amazing, even though the bed was very firm. The staff were great, and having Greek food at breakfast each day was nice. We had a lovely time here with my sisters and our partners, so I’m not sure why the reviews make the hotel look so poorly rated. It’s close to the beach, shops, and restaurants, although the location takes some effort to get around, which we knew to expect.
