Elounda Akti Olous - Adults only

This is our second visit, and we’re still here as I write. The staff and the whole experience have been wonderful again. We were upgraded to a sea-view room, which makes the stay even more special, if you can get one. The Skybar has been updated and looks amazing. There are lots of restaurants around, but the hotel’s own place, The blue sea, is a solid choice when you’re hungry. The food is great and the staff there are very friendly. I honestly can’t say enough about the place. Thanks again.

The view towards Spinalonga is gorgeous, the Sky Bar is lovely, and it’s a comfortable five-minute walk to the harbour and shops. The hotel is very clean, the staff are kind and attentive, and breakfast was very good. I’d call this a good three-star hotel. My main frustration was the pool: it’s small and doesn’t open until 09:30, which didn’t suit me as an early riser who likes to swim lengths before breakfast. The hotel’s beach area is also tiny, with maybe 20-25 sunbeds for all the guests. It could use attention and some investment. The loungers and umbrellas need replacing, and the mattresses are dirty and tatty. The covered seating nearby, partly used by the restaurant, is lovely for eating, having a drink, relaxing, or getting out of the sun. The standard room balconies are very small. There should be drawers under the dressing table and more hooks in the bedrooms. Still, our week at Akti gave us what we needed: sun, sand, sea, and a chance to recharge. Elounda is a lovely, laid-back seaside town.

We stayed for seven nights a couple of weeks ago. It’s right on the beachfront, and getting into town is an easy walk of about ten minutes. There’s breakfast seating downstairs and more across the road, where you can also have other meals. A small patch of sand has free loungers, though people tend to claim them early. The hotel is clean, and the Sky Bar by the pool is very nice, open for most of the day and evening. The pool itself is pleasant but small, with only a handful of loungers. We were put in a larger room as an upgrade, which was really nice. Our fourth-floor room had a small loft, realistically suited to two people, though three could fit. The standard rooms seem quite small. Ours was kept clean but was very basic. The shower had an odd shape but worked fine. We had to ask for soap, toilet paper, and coffee to be replenished because they weren’t topped up each day. The front desk was staffed when we arrived at night, and a friendly employee carried our bags to the room. You can borrow hotel beach towels for your stay, or pay €2 per day for each fresh one. Taxis are available outside, and a back gate leads to the main road. Euro Mart is just past the gate, about a two-minute walk away.

The staff were exceptionally friendly, and breakfast was served in the most beautiful place we’ve ever eaten it. The hotel is also well situated, close to the marina and some fabulous bars and restaurants. We’ve definitely fallen in love with Greece and its people. The shower was amazing too. Our room was small but comfortable and could use more storage. The balcony was small and the view wasn’t great, but neither took away from our enjoyment.
