Elounda Monastiri Cretan sea View House With Pool

The apartment was spacious and nicely equipped, with the sea view I booked. Although it faces the main road to Plaka, the bedroom is at the back and wasn’t noisy. There’s also a charming balcony among the olive trees, but no place to sit, so I wondered if it was only meant for drying handwashing. The bed was extremely low and uncomfortable, more like a child’s bed, and could be hard for an older person to get in and out of. My arrival was awkward. I came early, and apparently the owner had an emergency, but nobody told me. I heard it from other guests and struggled to communicate with the cleaner because I just wanted to park and return at the agreed time. When I did return, nobody was there, just a key in the door of what I assumed was my room. I had to contact the owner myself, and never met her, despite hearing from everyone how friendly she was. Cleanliness gets high marks from others, but not from me. There were crumbs left in a cupboard, the kettle was in terrible condition, and the bed linen was stained. That last one is absolutely unacceptable to me. This fell below my expectations. If the owners took time to look objectively at the weak spots and fix them, the place could live up to its reputation. At the moment, it feels as if they’ve fallen out of love with the business but are stuck with it.
