This suited us really well. It was affordable, clean, and the rooms were better than some of the TripAdvisor reviews from people with high expectations suggest. If you’re travelling on a budget, it’s a good fit. If you expect the moon on a stick, it probably isn’t. A little tip: leave by the front, turn left towards the first windmill, then turn left again. Follow the path and there’s a small beach on the right. While snorkelling around the Olous city ruins, we saw plenty of fish, squid and octopus.

The location was great, and the food was excellent. Our room was lovely and clean, and everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. Nothing to fault, we’d definitely come back.

I had one of the Seaview rooms in the new block, probably one of the better ones. There were some other rooms I didn’t care for the look of. The bar had good food and beer at reasonable prices. We visited in September, when Elounda felt almost like an adults-only resort, which made the stay more pleasant.

The beach was the main reason we chose this place. It’s close by and lovely, with clean sunbeds, a shower, and it wasn’t too busy. Sunrise also runs great boat trips, including a cocktail cruise with music and a diving platform. The food was really good, especially the orange pies, cheeseburgers and milkshakes. Our room was clean and tidy, with a built-in hairdryer and shaver point. We could have used more storage for clothes, but it wasn’t a big deal. Staff were polite and happy to help with anything, and Yannis behind the bar is a pure legend. There are a couple of nearby cats who love a fuss, and there’s a charity donation box for them on the bar. Thanks for a lovely holiday!
