The manager was friendly and had a sense of humour, but I had a terrible stay despite the location being one of the best. The place is beautiful and close to the beach, yet my room was tiny and basic. The shower didn’t work properly with hot and cold water, and water went everywhere. After three days, I asked for a change of tower, since they don’t do the room if you stay more than a day, but nothing happened. Very bad service. The restaurant quality was limited too. If you expect quiet, go elsewhere, especially at night. The walls are so thin that you can hear the kitchen in the morning and a dog barking all night.

The beach is the best around, and the taverna serves great food. The hotel itself is amazing, in a very nice location near Sfakia. Mr Nikos is a great host.

Right on the beach, with long chairs to rent or space to spread out your own blanket, this is a good spot for a short beach getaway. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. It’s a very basic hotel, with small rooms and a tiny bathroom where the shower is over the toilet seat. If you’re used to camping, it could suit you just fine.

The rooms were good enough, but I’d have liked a bigger bathroom and at least one soap. There was quite a bit of noise from the hallway and doors. The restaurant prices were very high, so I wouldn’t recommend eating there. The location is near a beautiful beach with crystal clear water, though it’s pebbly rather than sandy. I think you can only get to this place by car.

I chose this family-run hotel because my kayak trip started there. Nikos and his family run it really well and do what they can to give you a lovely Cretean experience. The facilities are simple, comfortable, and very clean. Alex in the kitchen made my meals an unexpected gastronomic experience. Set right at Ilingas beach, it’s a great place for a chilled holiday and for exploring Crete’s beautiful south coast. Efcharisto Nikos and family!
