Sfakian Horizon

We were told when booking that the pool would be open, but it was empty and untiled. Noisy construction work was happening each day during our stay. The apartment had been refurbished recently, but its door handles were falling off. We reported it, and the problem still wasn’t fixed by the time we left.

We’ve come back for a second year, and the hotel was even better this time. The location is scenic, with restaurants, a bakery, a convenience store, and the harbor all just a three-minute walk away. Our room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, and breakfast was good quality. We especially liked having it served by the pool. The staff were both friendly and professional. We’ll definitely be back next year.

Sfakia was a great place to stay, with plenty of restaurants, a few handy food and souvenir shops, a good ferry, and a clean beach that was great for bathing. From the hotel it was an easy walk to the village and beach, and being a little higher up gave us a gorgeous sea view. We spent a week there in July and loved it. The hotel was small and very quiet, and our spacious ground floor apartment by the pool was clean and comfortable, with an excellent modern bathroom. The pool was lovely and often all ours because it was so quiet. It closes from 2-5, which we personally found a bit strange, but we’re from England and don’t do siesta time! Breakfast had loads of hot and cold choices. The orange juice was the best I’ve ever had, and the cheese pie was fabulous. A big thank you to the lady serving it.

When I left my sunglasses at the hotel, the staff made a real effort to get them back to me quickly. Everyone was warm and helpful. The pool was great in a beautiful setting, breakfast was tasty and varied, and the stylish rooms were comfortable and clearly refurbished recently. We’d happily stay again. Everything was fabulous.
