They’d taken a group just before we arrived and wouldn’t serve us. There wasn’t a closed sign, so that was disappointing. In the end, it worked out well: we found Maria Taverna, a better-rated place near the beach, where we had great seafood and got free sunbeds after lunch.

The place looks shabby and well past its best. It needs serious investment, which is long overdue. The toilets were filthy, the gents’ flush was broken, and everything felt run-down. We wouldn’t risk ordering food here. We just had a quick drink of warm, sweet white wine, even though we’d ordered dry, then left. We won’t be back.

Greek night was a lot of fun, with fabulous dancers, great singing and a lively atmosphere. We even joined in the dancing. It was busy, so food took a long time, but they bring a free bread basket with the softest sliced bloomer bread. Book for Greek night, though walking in at other times should be fine. The restaurant is in a lovely spot at the junction leading down to Canal D’Armour. The waiting staff were pleasant, and while the menu isn’t huge, I’d say there’s enough choice for everyone.

I had the T-bone steak, which was enormous and cooked just right. The Greek nights are fantastic, and the food is out of this world. A great place to eat, with friendly, lively staff.
