Hotel Mimosa

The staff were brilliant, but the hotel and rooms felt a bit worn. The bathroom had an odd smell, and breakfast was basic. Watch out for the uneven ground behind the pool, there are quite a few places to trip.

The location is hard to beat, with the beach and strip right nearby, and we had no trouble finding sunbeds between the two big pools. We stayed half board from 15 to 22 August. Breakfast had a good range, and dinner was amazing, with plenty of choices. The staff were friendly, hardworking, and a real credit to the hotel. The room shower was small, but it didn't spoil our holiday. We thought the place deserved more than its 2 ** rating and would recommend it 100%.

There are plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops, nightlife options and excursions nearby, and the food prices are really reasonable. The staff were very friendly. Our room was fairly clean and had a tiny mini fridge, but it was big enough to keep water and insulin cool in the heat. The air conditioning worked well, and every room has it. A few room details were less good. The plug sockets in mine weren't securely fitted, which would worry me with small children around because of the exposed live wires. The shower cubicle was tiny but usable, and water leaked onto the bathroom floor if the shower head was pointed the wrong way. It also leaked where it joined the wall, and there was some mould on the overhead shower. The main bathroom drain smelled a bit too. The lift kept going out of service, so taking my case down two flights of stairs when leaving was a pain. I didn't report any of this to the hotel, but I have full faith they would have tried to sort it out if I had.

The location worked really well for us, close to the beach, lively nightlife and restaurants, with a bus stop and supermarket nearby. We only had breakfast, which was plentiful and consistent, and it was nice to have the option of sitting outside by the front pool. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially Anna. We asked to move to the front building for a pool and sea view because the back was too quiet for us. Keep in mind the karaoke bar opposite means the front isn't a good choice if you want quiet at night. The room and balcony were spacious, with good storage and air conditioning. Beds and bedding were adequate. The shower was small but had good pressure. We would have liked louder music by the pool bar and a “Do not Disturb” sign for the room.
