Sidari Inn Aparthotel

The room photos gave us the wrong impression. They seem heavily edited, and the accommodation was in a deplorable state. Our room was filthy, with hair left by previous guests. When we raised it, someone gave the floor a very quick sweep, maybe 15 seconds. Rooms were mopped every two days with a mop that smelled ancient, and it seemed the water might not be changed between rooms. The floor ended up smelling like human waste. The shower was cramped and uncomfortable, about 0.9 m2, and somehow absent from the pictures. Even the doors squeaked so loudly that going to the bathroom woke everyone up.

The staff were friendly and answered our questions, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and had useful basics like a sink, fridge, chopping board, utensils, and a few pans. There’s no stove, toaster, or microwave, though, which could be a drawback if you plan to cook. We stayed seven nights and only had the room cleaned once. We had to ask for fresh towels, and the toilet roll situation was my main annoyance: they supplied just one at a time. The apartments are a 15-20 minute walk from the main strip and beaches. We didn’t mind in the manageable September heat, but there are no footpaths, so take care. Two supermarkets and some nice little tavernas are only a minute away. It was good value and a pleasant surprise. I’d return, though there’s no rush, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves Sidari.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and there’s a pleasant pool bar. The pool itself feels small for the number of apartments. Our room was dated and due for a makeover, though it was pleasantly roomy with lots of storage. The cooking setup was adequate, with enough cutlery and crockery. The location felt a little remote.

The owner became aggressive after I posted a review about our problems, bullying me and pressuring me to take it down or face eviction. There was also an uncovered wall light in the room, which felt like a safety hazard. My friends and I had just returned from this stay. Sidari is a lovely little town, but this accommodation seriously isn’t up to standard. Our room hadn’t been cleaned once during the visit, and we got no fresh towels until the last day. We complained about that. On arrival, the room had only been prepared for two even though three of us were staying. They fixed that by giving us bedding and towels. We knew the accommodation was basic given the cheap holiday, but the single toilet roll ran out quickly. We asked for another several times, and messaged and emailed too, without getting one. Only after contacting TUI did a replacement arrive on our final day. They should make clear whether toilet roll is provided, so guests can buy their own instead of waiting for one that never comes. Not for the fainthearted.
