Castello Village Resort

We had a lovely time in May on half board, with plenty of good food choices. The room had been renovated recently, though the TV felt a bit small to me, and the surroundings were clean. The staff were kind and helpful all the time, which made a big difference to my five-star rating. Elvis especially did everything he could to make us comfortable, and speaks more than five languages. Thanks, everyone!

The food was okay, and that’s about all I can say in its favor. I wouldn’t call this a four-star resort. The room was the smallest I’ve ever had, though that wasn’t the main issue. The description said we could use the spa facilities across the street, but we were told the sauna wasn’t working, and they wanted to charge us to use the bubble pool. The Wi-Fi barely worked, and unfortunately the staff didn’t seem trained enough to provide good customer service.

The staff were attentive and very helpful. Our room was fine, though a little cramped, and I was surprised to see an old-fashioned safe with a big key. Breakfast had enough choice for us. We ate out, so can’t comment on dinner or evening entertainment. Some hotel reviews had made us worry before we arrived, but we needn’t have. There are things you could criticize, yet overall we enjoyed the stay.

The pool was excellent, and I enjoyed playing water polo, though proper goals would work better than chairs. Evenings were fun, especially when Andreas kept things lively during karaoke, despite the internet regularly dropping out. The food was very good and the staff were friendly, although they seemed stretched. I’d give it about three and a half stars, but went with four. The room was adequate, usually cleaned, and had fresh towels and air conditioning. Pool bars didn’t open until around 11, and in the heat it seemed unfair that we weren’t allowed to drink our own water by the pool. I’d return to the hotel, and definitely to Sissi. It’s a beautiful place.
