Hotel Petunia

We found Petunia at the last minute after a terrible stay in Nea Skioni. I won’t name that place, out of decency, but poor hygiene and a lack of basic respect left my partner and me scrambling for somewhere else. Petunia’s low price caught our attention, though we hesitated because the reviews weren’t all perfect and we were already shaken by what had happened. Giving it a try turned out to be the best decision of our vacation, and it saved the trip. The rooms were clean and well kept, and the new air conditioning worked impressively. Coming back from a hot day at the beach to a cool room felt great. Hot water worked perfectly too. I personally would have liked a little more pressure, but that’s just my preference. The staff were genuinely helpful and kind. They even let us wash some clothes, which made us feel looked after. Cleaning isn’t automatic every day, but if you ask, they come right away, change the towels, and refresh the supplies with a smile and polite attitude. We stayed next to the gathering table and had no noise trouble at night, it was quiet and peaceful, despite what some reviews say. For the price, it feels unfair that this place has only two stars. We got much more value than we paid for: clean rooms, great AC, friendly service, and peace of mind. It may not have luxury labels, but it has honesty, warmth, and real hospitality. I’d absolutely recommend Petunia if you want a relaxing stay where you feel respected and treated like family.

I love this place. It’s newly renovated, open out of season, and has an extremely nice host. The off-season price is really good, too. A great place to stay in town.

The owner made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. He’s a very pleasant, kind man, and his hospitality is amazing. The rooms were clean, with AC and a nice TV. The nearest beach is only about 6-7 minutes away, and a dock with a beautiful view of the sea and distant islands is just a minute away. We also found some of the best restaurants here very close by, along with souvenir shops, cocktail bars, and nice seaside walking areas. If I come back, I’ll stay at this hotel again. It’s definitely worth revisiting.

The WiFi barely worked anywhere, and our mobile data was poor too. We had better coverage out at sea than in the room. The so-called balcony was less than 30 cm deep, practically nonexistent. For five days, the room stayed dirty. They didn’t change the towels or sheets or do basic cleaning. The mirror was always fogged up, the floor was dirty, and the whole place felt unpleasant. They didn’t even offer us a glass of water during the stay. The room was dirty when we arrived. When we asked about service, an employee said it would be cleaned on the third day. That day came, but nothing had been cleaned, the sheets and towels were still the same, and they’d only taken out the trash bag, which was about to overflow. We even had to ask reception for toilet paper. When we politely raised the issue and asked them to clean, the employee reacted badly and spoke sarcastically. She swept up a little dirt with a dustpan as if that counted as cleaning, then stopped talking to us. The woman at reception was extremely rude and indifferent, and would often lie on the couch without trying to help. The reception area was messy and looked more like a living room than a hotel lobby. It was a very bad experience and a waste of money. This place doesn’t deserve even one star. Never visit.
