Olympion Sunset

The Olive bar/restaurant was a highlight, with good staff and food. The location is great, the room was clean and adequate, and the staff were friendly enough. We had a good holiday, but I don’t think the hotel deserves to call itself 5-star. Its facilities are too limited to be more than 4-star. The pool was crowded with families, so it wasn’t relaxing. It also had lots of missing tiles and loose coping stones around the edge. There weren’t enough sun loungers, and people would put towels on them early, then leave them empty 90% of the time. I saw one person reserve more than 10. There’s not enough protection against this. Breakfast and dining were noisy chaos, with the area far too cramped and tense. The food was good enough, though the buffet’s fast turnover lowered the standard. Reception has six different sets of sofas thrown around, and nobody seemed to use them. There’s apparently a spa, but no instructions on how to use it. Room service was advertised too, but I couldn’t find information on how to order it. It’s a good hotel, just not as good as it wants to be.

We stayed six nights in August, a family of five with children aged 3, 5, and 11. The room, service, and food were all nice, but the people working there stood out most. Every time we asked for something, they were so kind, and I mean genuinely kind. Please keep it up! Our only letdown was the sandwiches we got instead of breakfast on the last day because we had to leave early. That could be better.

The garden and beach are lovely, with lots of sun beds, and parking outside the hotel is easy. Our room was nice and spacious, and the high ceiling made it feel even bigger. The staff were very friendly. For 300 euros a night, I expected more of the features I’ve seen at other 5-star hotels, such as free espresso at breakfast, a coffee or tea maker in the room, at least a few high-quality breakfast foods, water refill, or high-end mattresses. I couldn’t see anything that set it apart from a 4-star hotel.

We enjoyed our six nights at the hotel, especially thanks to the staff. Everyone from reception and housekeeping to the waiters and waitresses was amazing, and lifeguard Cristina deserves a special mention. They were friendly and helpful throughout. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though they could use updating. One disappointment was the shade by the pool and beach. The umbrellas are fixed and can’t be adjusted, so guests are in the sun most of the day. The few properly shaded spots are always taken, often by the same guests, who seemed to have a special arrangement with the pool staff. That felt unfair. We still enjoyed the holiday and think the hotel has plenty of potential with a few improvements.
