Sea View Apartments by Susi & Sofia

Sakis, one of the owners, took us on a private tour. Since he was born on Patmos, he knows the island well. We went to the monastery and the apocalypse, then around the island and its bays. It was an experience we don’t think you can get elsewhere. This is a lovely place to stay in Patmos, run by a Greek-German family with three apartments available. We stayed in the studio, a nice little room for two. It was clean and had everything needed for cooking, apart from an oven, which isn’t standard anyway. They also helped us rent a car and picked us up from the Harbour. They looked after everything we needed. Highly recommended. Thank you, Susi and Sakis!

The hosts were a big part of what made Sea View Apartments feel like a home away from home. They were warm, kind, and helpful, and their care gave the stay a relaxed, cozy, unpretentious feel. It’s in a quiet spot above Skala port, a handy base for exploring Patmos. From the balcony, the horizon stretches out in an unrestricted 180-degree view, with sunrise for early risers and beautiful sunsets for the romantically inclined. The rooms are spacious, bright, nicely decorated, and equipped with the modern basics. Cleanliness was exemplary, and there’s parking in front of the property. We really enjoyed our stay.

The owners are helpful and very friendly, and the rooms are well organized, comfortable, and great value for money. The view is the best in Scala, and it’s somewhere I’m sure I’d want to return to. By car, you’re close to the road to Chora and about five minutes from the center of Scala. If you’re walking, it takes around 10-15 minutes to reach the center of Scala port, including stairs. Coming from the port by car, there’s a tricky right turn. It’s easier to continue toward the Apocalypse, turn around, then approach the apartment with a left turn.

The best part of the place is Susi and Saki, a lovely couple who make wonderful hosts. They bring together Greek warmth and hospitality with German reliability and efficiency. I can’t imagine finding better hosts in Greece or anywhere else. I stayed for a week in August 2017. It’s a great place for a quiet holiday and a good base for exploring Patmos. The apartments and studios are well kept, with a beautiful view of the sea and Patmos town. The balcony is perfect for watching the sunset, relaxing after a day at the beach, or seeing the ferries come and go from the harbour.
