The hotel was spotless and well looked after, and we loved how relaxed and welcoming it felt. The food was lovely too, and the location made it easy to explore Skiathos. There is a small hill up to the hotel, but it didn't bother us. It could be harder for elderly or less mobile guests, though taxis are easy to find. We had a wonderful holiday and would gladly return to Amira Hotel.

The young woman at reception was friendly and accommodating, but several parts of the stay were disappointing. We chose the hotel partly for its pool, only to find it closes at 7 p.m., so an evening swim after the beach wasn't possible. Breakfast is listed as running until 10:30, yet it seems to be first come, first served. When we came down around 9, items that had run out weren't replaced, leaving little beyond toast, an egg, or a banana. There were also practical issues in the room and public areas. Mold was visible at the bottom of the shower and in other places exposed to water, and our sheets were stained. A floor-mounted doorstop stuck out awkwardly in the bathroom, and both my wife and I hurt ourselves on it more than once. The reusable room keys have the hotel name and room number written on them, which seems like a security concern if one is lost outside. The soap and shower gel bottles looked squeezed and battered, with their protective seals removed, as if they were being reused. The tinted frosted glass in the unisex public bathrooms still lets people see in, which felt uncomfortable. And the coffee machine by the pool can only be used in the morning. From the outside, Amira Suites looks new and stylish, with a pretty pool and a small outdoor seating area. The hotel itself is fairly nice, but it didn't deliver the restful, luxurious stay we expected. For people who work hard all year and want that kind of holiday, it may not be the right choice. There are plenty of attractive four-star and luxury resorts on the island, and some research may turn up a better fit.

The staff and service were superb, and Aliki was especially friendly and attentive. We had a lovely room with a swim-up pool, and breakfast was great, particularly the tasty yoghurt. Staying about 1 km from the centre gave us lovely views and some peace and quiet, while good restaurants were still only 10-15 minutes away.

Aliki at reception was so friendly and helpful, and the rest of the staff were just as kind. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. Our room had everything we needed, including a stocked mini fridge, and they provided towels for the pool and beach. Breakfast was great, the hotel was clean, and the views were amazing. It's a lovely little place about a 15-minute walk from town, and we'd definitely stay again.

The view was breathtaking, and the room was immaculate with everything in its place. We stayed in early August and had the best experience we've had in Greece so far. The staff were warm and welcoming, and really went out of their way for us. The food was outstanding too. We can't wait to come back, and I'd recommend this hotel without hesitation.
