After a lovely time in Skopelos, we hoped the final four days of our holiday in Skiathos would be just as good. Instead, when we arrived, the owner told us there was no room for us for the first two days. He said they had arranged somewhere near Skiathos port and that it would be “fun”. When I explained we wanted to stay where we’d paid to stay, not in town, he told me to “say something other than no”. Luckily, we got a full refund through hotel.com. Please save yourself the stress my partner and I went through and don’t book here.

Our apartment was clean and spacious, in a green area on the small hill behind Skiathos town. The hotel is highly recommended. If you can, ask for a room with a view.

The room itself was new and came fully equipped, with a particularly well-designed fridge and cooking area. Still, 54 euros was more than I wanted to pay, even if that may be considered cheap for a Greek island. The big problem was no Wi-Fi in the room. There were no controls for the air conditioning or TV either, and I had an uncomfortably hot night. I went to reception but couldn't find anyone, then sent two messages through Booking and got no reply. They need to fix this quickly.

You can see the city from these quiet apartments, and the owners are polite and willing to help. The rooms are comfortable, though they could have been cleaner. Getting around is much easier with a car. Walking to the city center is possible, but it's quite a long way, and for the well-known beaches you'll need a car or can take the bus from the main road. I'd recommend staying here to families who have a car.
