Panorama Hotel Apartments

We recently held our wedding ceremony here, after coming to this hotel for ten years. The family who run it feel like our own family because of how well they’ve treated us. It’s great seeing improvements every time we visit, especially the recent restaurant updates. The food is brilliant, and there’s a varied menu. I’d highly recommend this peaceful, well-situated place to anyone looking to stay in Stalis.

We had a lovely nine-night stay at Panorama studios, though a few things could have been better. The location is ideal, just across from the beach, with plenty of great restaurants nearby. There’s also a car rental place opposite that was excellent for one of our day trips. We were impressed that the owner greeted us despite arriving at 2am and answered our questions about the facilities. Our spacious second-floor room had a double balcony and sea view, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. There was a charge of about £130 on arrival for air conditioning and the safe, payable in cash, which worked out to £14 a night. I’d read about it in another review, so it wasn’t a huge surprise. Breakfast was included, with plenty of options, but it was served as choices rather than a buffet, which we hadn’t come across in a bed and breakfast before. The English breakfast wasn’t the best, service in the morning was slow, and some staff were a bit rude. We did enjoy our evening meals here on the last two nights when we were too tired to go out. Manos was excellent throughout our stay, and Yiannis was attentive and made our last evening the best. For the first two days, we paid the owner 8 euros a day for sunbeds on the beach opposite. Other guests told us the sunbeds and umbrellas were free just five minutes farther down the road, so we went there for the rest of the trip and saved a lot. At checkout, we weren’t happy with the options for our late departure. We were leaving the hotel at 11pm for a 2am flight, but were only offered the room until 6pm, even though we’d heard other guests could keep theirs until departure for the same 30-euro fee. We chose not to pay to keep it because we didn’t want to cut our day short. We were told there was a shower and changing room, but when we returned later, we were directed to the pool shower. It was 8pm, completely dark, and the shower had no temperature setting, so we had to shower in freezing cold water. On previous trips to Greece, we’d had a proper separate shower room for departing guests. The hotel may want to consider offering that. Overall it was a good stay, but the location is what makes the place. We’ll definitely return to the Crete Stalis area, though possibly choose a different updated hotel.

The staff made our two weeks at Panorama wonderful. Manos, Eva, Joy, Yiannis, Drusilla, and all the others whose names I can’t remember were friendly and helpful, always ready to do whatever they could. We had lovely rooms and pools, including another nice pool area near the beach. Everything was spotless, and towels and bedding were changed regularly while the bins were emptied every day. The rooms were really comfortable, and both the kids and the adults had a great time in the pool. We also loved the food. Eva, Manos and all the staff made our family of 11 feel welcome, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We’ve just come back from a two-week stay and would definitely return. Highly recommend this hotel!
