The maisonettes were spacious, and we really enjoyed the terrace by our unit. The beds were comfortable, and air conditioning was available for 10 euros per bedroom per day. We did get insect bites, so bring repellent, though that wasn’t just a hotel issue. There aren’t many bars and restaurants close by, but the choices were fine. A shop and bus stop are a five-minute walk away. The bus to the main town costs 2 euros per person and takes about 45 minutes. It’s a family run hotel that does the basics well. The kitchen is basic, so bring a tin opener if you plan to make meals. The on-site pool bar served some nice food and drinks and stayed open late. The pool was clean and often warm. We thought it could use a few more sunbeds. The planes weren’t a problem for us. On most days the first flight was around 09:00 and they’d finished by 22:00, with roughly two or three planes an hour.

The beach, several restaurants and a supermarket are all close to Bessie's Village, and Svoronata is about a 20-minute walk away. Bring a torch for that walk. We liked the pool area, and the snack bar was handy for lunch. Being near the airport makes transfers very quick, and the kids found the planes coming in to land a great distraction. Maybe the adults did too. The only complaint was the very uncomfortable bed in our room. Many rooms have been refurbished, so hopefully that won’t be an issue if we return.

The staff were friendly and really helpful, and the pool and surrounding area were spotless. The grounds are beautiful and extremely well looked after. Our room was very clean, the bins were emptied daily, and the linen was changed every other day. Don’t expect five-star accommodation from a two-star Greek self-catering place. It’s more than adequate, and great fun!

We cut our holiday short and came home early. Most of the other guests were friendly, and the pool was nice, but there was no padding on the sunbeds and the pool bar had just one menu that felt a bit sticky. The whole place was tired and needed some TLC. We ended up here because Easyjet Holidays changed our hotel at the last minute and it was the only place available. We had a one-bedroom apartment that wasn’t very clean. The bed was really uncomfortable, and although the broken toilet seat was fixed, self-catering was nearly impossible. There were no plugs in the sinks, no tea towels and very few cooking utensils.

Bessie's Village is a great base for exploring the island, and I’d highly recommend it. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout, and the air conditioning worked perfectly for 10 euros a day. The safe deposit box was very secure and cost 10 euros a week. It’s close to the main airport, so you do hear some planes taking off and landing, but the noise passes quickly and didn’t spoil our stay. The site is spacious, with a wonderful swimming pool and attractive buildings. The accommodation is basic, but the large bedrooms, many with coastline and sea views, and the option to self-cater worked well for us. Management was excellent and staff were friendly and efficient. The pool bar had good-priced snacks, quick meals and drinks. Two supermarkets and five nearby restaurants are within easy reach. Buses to the main towns cost 2 euros each way.
