Nautilus Beach House

The sunsets were stunning, and they drew me in every day just as much as the first time. The sea was warm and its color is hard to describe, turquoise by the shore and ultramarine farther out. It was one of my greatest pleasures to sit and watch it through the day. It was windy, so the sea wasn’t calm, but my children loved jumping over the waves. Plane noise was a little disturbing at first, though after a couple of days you almost stop noticing it. At Nautilus beach house, we had a wonderful stay away from the crowds, with our own beach. The house had everything we needed for daily life, and the owner was friendly and helpful, looking after us even before we arrived. We had a tasty Greek dinner on our first evening, and the fridge was full of the food I’d asked her to buy for us. With a rental car, it’s easy to reach Rhodes town and the eastern shore, and there are plenty of good tavernas nearby. It’s worth coming for a truly relaxing stay, with a private beach house, private beach access, and private sunsets.

We really enjoyed the owners’ hospitality and the location, and I’d definitely recommend this guest house. It’s right on the beach and close to the airport. Planes fly over often, but the house has good soundproofing, so it wasn’t much of a problem.

Argy was a wonderful host and helped whenever we needed anything. She’d even left a delicious home-cooked meal in the fridge for our late-night arrival, when we were hungry and tired. The house was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of lovely spots to sit and watch the ocean. We had breakfast on the patio each morning, then walked through the yard straight to the beach. We stayed at the Nautilus Beach House with family in September 2022, and six months later I was still thinking about the lovely time we’d had. The wind was warm and pleasant. Planes flew right overhead, but it didn’t bother us, and they stopped after 11:30pm, leaving a quiet night. The emerald-green sea and Mediterranean feel were so relaxing. The beach in front isn’t touristy or the best for swimming, and it’s rocky and gravelly, but our two-year-old loved building with driftwood and walking along it. We nearly had the beach to ourselves. Watching the windsurfers was fun and entertaining. We’d definitely stay again. Thank you, Argy!

We were really sad to leave and can’t wait to return. Sitting on the patio with a drink and watching the sea at sunset was superb, and it was easy to walk across the garden from the patio to the beach for a morning swim. The gentle sea breeze made the heat feel less oppressive, and the bedroom air-conditioning was very welcome at night. The house was spotless. Roula and her family gave us a detailed tour and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. They’d stocked the fridge with breakfast goodies, and Roula’s mother had cooked a Greek meal for our first evening.
