Andromeda Hotel Thessaloniki

I couldn’t relax or sleep because noise carried from other rooms all night, including very explicit sounds. It was extremely disappointing and not at all the experience I expected. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to tourists or families. It seems more suited to short stays for very specific purposes than to a restful vacation.

My parents and I arrived today without a reservation, hoping to be welcomed, but the hotel manager’s manner made us feel unwanted and uncomfortable. We spoke briefly, then left to find somewhere else to stay. It was a letdown because we’d been looking forward to a cozy visit. I’d consider other options in the area.

We came to Thessaloniki excited to explore the city and had planned to use Andromeda as our base. We booked the most expensive room, the one with a bath. The photos made it look like a cute, clean old Hollywood style hotel. Honestly, I’d give this “hotel” half a star if I could. It gets one. We arrived late and were met by a disengaged receptionist. After an unsatisfying exchange, we got the keys. The hallway outside the elevator smelled of stale cigarettes and had a stained carpet. The room seemed a little underwhelming at first, but okay. Then we saw how dirty it was. The bed footer had visible stains, the formerly white couch was covered in suspicious stains, and a greasy-looking substance was smeared on both the menu and the door. The bathroom also looked poorly cleaned. It all left us feeling dirty and uncomfortable. We went downstairs to complain and found the same unhelpful receptionist. She said there were no other rooms and the cleaners had finished for the night. When we mentioned the dirty bed footer, she suggested we “just remove it.” We felt we had no choice but to stay. We took off the dirty blankets and tried to turn up the heat, but the heater didn’t work. We were there in November, it was cold, and we slept in our clothes. First thing in the morning, we asked to get the rest of our money back and move to another hotel. A male receptionist showed no empathy at all, and neither he nor the hotel apologized for the state of the room. He agreed to refund the remainder of our stay but wouldn’t put that in writing and said he couldn’t process it right away. When we questioned him, he became passive-aggressive. We waited in the lobby for 30 minutes in silent protest before he finally emailed written confirmation that he would return the money. No one explained why we had to wait. The room was that disgusting, and the staff were just as unhelpful. We could say more, but seriously, don’t stay here. Wash your hands after clicking on this hotel.

There are some nice restaurants close by, and the location is really convenient, right in the heart of the city.
