I was there for six months, and I’d tell people to stay somewhere else with a different company. I called many times with complaints, but they were always rude or said they’d look at it tomorrow or fix it in two days. I guess they’re still trying to fix the problem three months later 🤷🏻♀️. The apartment they gave me smelled terrible. They blamed the neighborhood and said it would go away, but I fixed the problem myself in an hour. When I left, I returned the apartment very clean, even though they didn’t deserve it. They knew my number and ignored my calls, but answered right away when I called from another phone. There are many, many better places to stay in Thessaloniki.
I booked the room for friends, and their stay was awful. They arrived late and were given the wrong room number, which understandably panicked them. They tried the number next door, and thankfully that worked. We tried to get in touch, but no one helped at the time, and they ignored our calls and messages. There was water leaking in the room. The apartment and the surrounding area felt sketchy, with odd smells everywhere, open doors, and people talking loudly at night. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
The building has two main entrances, and one is damaged and can’t be locked, so anyone can get in. Nillie’s investors still haven’t managed to fix the lock in three years. The building is in one of Thessaloniki’s less safe neighborhoods. For decades, it was used as a rehearsal space by more than half the city’s musicians, despite being deemed totally uninhabitable by urban planning authorities. Then, in just three years, Nillie drove almost everyone out to rent rooms to uninformed tourists. The rooms had gone unmaintained for decades and only got a miserable renovation. What changed? In a highly corrupt country like Greece, easy money for funds is prioritized over the arts and, more importantly, safety. Choosing this great company would be immoral, and your stay will most likely be awful, if not dangerous. PS: The building has two main entrances, and one is damaged and can’t be locked, so anyone can enter. The great investors of Nillie are so useless they can’t fix a lock after three years.
The noise came through constantly. The insulation was very poor, both for sound and, most likely, cold weather. I could hear every step, conversation and door closing in the stairwell, so there was no sense of privacy or peace. The apartment was far below the standard described, or what anyone could reasonably expect, and staying there was one of my most unpleasant accommodation experiences. The kitchen was in dreadful shape. The kettle was so caked with limescale and old grime I wondered if it had ever been cleaned, and it was impossible to use. There wasn’t even a pot or frying pan, so cooking would mean buying your own. The shower also felt completely unhygienic, with a disgusting layer of mold on the walls and in the grouting, plus a noticeable smell. Dirt was the first thing I noticed when I went in. It wasn’t just ordinary mess, but fundamental, disgusting filth. Worst of all, several cockroaches were scurrying around the kitchen and bathroom. That’s unacceptable and a serious health hazard. I can’t recommend this apartment at all. The insects and mold make it directly unhealthy, and offering a rental in this condition feels like serious neglect by the landlord. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
This is the second place I’ve tried from this company, and the experience wasn’t the same. There’s a recording studio in the building, so forget working from your room or taking a nap. The room had the bare minimum, and by that I mean it didn’t even have a tissue if you needed one. The instructions said there was an elevator, but there wasn’t. The stairs were so filthy I don’t understand why anyone would want to stay here.
