Katerina Apartments

We had a lovely three-night stay at Katerina apartments with our two young children, and wished we'd booked longer. It's simple, with a quaint, authentic Greek feel, which suited us since we planned to explore the island rather than spend all day at the apartments. I'd read some negative reviews but was glad I ignored them. The owners seem to have taken the feedback seriously, and you can see the work they've put in to change that reputation. We were on the ground floor. There was a kettle, toaster, and toastie maker, but no sharp knife for fruit. The twin beds in each room were comfortable, and we just pushed them together. At night, the front door had to be locked from outside, so we'd go in through the balcony door at bedtime. These were minor things, and we had no real accommodation issues. I loved the rustic feel and peaceful setting in the lovely gardens. Free Wi-Fi and air conditioning, too. It's between Skiathos town and koukanaries beach, with mini markets close by. Next time I'd shop at the bigger supermarket in town because it's much cheaper. There's a nice pool/sports bar less than a 10 minute walk away. Buses are easy to use and cost €2/3 each. The owners were genuinely welcoming and family friendly, and we'd love to return.

Peaceful apartments with clean, comfortable rooms and everything you need, even if they aren't five star. The bedding and towels were changed regularly, and there was no scramble for pool sunbeds. Just like lots of other Greek accommodation.

The grounds are beautiful, with a small pool, and it's not too far from the beach or local tavernas. The apartment was a good size, with two beds and three balconies. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped, though there was no kettle. Bathroom facilities were poor and the place wasn't the cleanest, but there was plenty of hot water and good pressure. Basic Greek accommodation.

The gardens around the place are lovely and well maintained. It's very quiet, and there's no pool bar. The pool is small, only 1.4m at its deepest, but they clean it every day. It's typically Greek, so don't expect five star.
